Iran?s new President, Hassan Rowhani, has called Israel an ?old wound? that should be removed, just two days before his inauguration on Sunday.
Echoing the confrontational style of previous leaders, Mr Rowhani made the comment as Iranians around the country gathered to mark Al-Quds Day (Jerusalem Day). Mass rallies are held annually across Iran to denounce Israel, the country?s nemesis, and show solidarity with the Palestinians.
?The Zionist regime has been a wound on the body of the Islamic world for years and the wound should be removed,? Mr Rowhani said.
