Health And Fitness | Penis Sensation Loss - Penis Sensitivity Can ...

When penis skin is constantly subjected to irritation, chafing, rubbing or other minor, chronic injury, the skin responds by forming a thicker, more durable outer layer in order to prevent further injury. While this callusing effect is more noticeable on the hands and soles of the feet, the same thing happens to the erogenous skin of the penis. With frequent masturbation or sex, environmental irritants, or just the constant chafing of clothing, the outer layer of the penis becomes desensitized, resulting in a loss of penis sensation. The good news is that through the use of personal care products containing penis-specific vitamins and minerals and following some simple suggestions, loss of penis sensation does not have to mean the end of sexual enjoyment.

Why does penis sensation loss occur?

??? Aging ??? As men age, neural sensitivity in all parts of the body begins to diminish. Eyesight, hearing and sense of taste are all affected, beginning as early as the thirties, and the penis skin is no exception. Most men report some degree of penis sensitivity reduction over time.

??? Circumcision ??? While some men report that circumcision does not affect their sensitivity, it is highly common for circumcised males to experience lost penis sensation. This is often believed to be the result of exposing the highly sensitive skin of the glans (penis head) to friction without the benefit of the natural lubrication provided by the foreskin.

??? Masturbation ??? Frequent masturbation, especially dry rubbing, can toughen the skin of the penis and reduce penile sensitivity. In addition, the penis can essentially become over-accustomed to being stimulated in the ???right??? way, resulting in decreased response to other forms of stimulation, such as with a partner.

??? Poor circulation ??? Circulation plays a big role in the ability to experience tactile sensation. For example, falling asleep with an arm under the body can result in temporary numbness in the fingers. Tight clothing, obesity, and even cycling can limit the circulation to the penis and cause loss of tactile sensitivity.

??? Alcohol and tobacco use ??? Alcohol, as well as the chemicals in tobacco, can wreak havoc with the nervous system and decrease the ability to feel sexual pleasure. Men who smoke or drink regularly are at risk for lost penis sensation.

Is it possible to restore penis sensitivity?

With the right strategy, penis sensation can be restored, or new nerve pathways can be formed, making sex a pleasurable activity for years to come. The key is to be creative and care for the penis skin with nutrients that are designed to support healthy skin and nerve cell function.

??? Visualize ??? Sexual arousal has almost as much to do with visual stimulation as with touch. Internal visualization of erotic images, watching a partner, or even viewing adult films can go a long way toward heightening the nerve sensation of the penis.

??? Avoid masturbating before sexual encounters ??? For men who are experiencing sensitivity loss, abstaining from masturbation for a time can give the skin and nerve cells a chance to recuperate. Refraining from masturbation before an encounter with a sexual partner can also increase arousal and boost penile sensitivity.

??? Experiment with different positions ??? Changing the pressure on the penis through experimenting with new positions can create new types of sensation and increase sensual pleasure. Using the positions described in the kama sutra, for example, can heighten penis sensation and increase sexual enjoyment.

??? Use a penis health crème ???Use of a nutrient formula that contains vitamins and minerals for skin and nerve support may help to prevent loss of penis sensation and restore sensitivity, as well as increasing the overall health of the penis.

Choosing a penis health crème

To be effective, a penis health formula (such as Man1 Man Oil) should contain a combination of vitamins A, B5, C, D and E, which work together to keep the skin youthful, supple and receptive to stimulation. Natural moisturizers such as shea butter prevent drying and toughening of the skin, while amino acids like acetyl-L-carnitine provide metabolic support and work to prevent aging and cellular damage of the penis skin.

Widefield's Starke wins golf tournament after blowing away his personal best

Widefield?s Nate Starke had never broken 80, never won a tournament and had perhaps never felt more anxious than he did as scores were trickling in at the Cherokee Ridge Golf Course clubhouse Thursday. Starke?s pacing finally ended when he saw his 73 would hold up as the top score among the 48 players at the Mitchell Marauder Invitational, an event that counts toward the 4A Metro standings. ?(Coronado?s) Kyle (Kleckner) came up and told me I would probably win,? Starke said. ?That?s when I realized. ?My heart was pumping too fast.? The splitting of local leagues has caused scheduling headaches and controversy, but here was the positive, if unintended consequence ? a player who might never have been in contention against the top players from Air Academy or Cheyenne Mountain earned the right to leave the course with a first-place medal around his neck. ?It felt good,? Starke said. Stark was eyeing his first round in the 70s when he was at 39 at the turn. He then shot 34 ? with birdies on the two par 5s, Nos. 2 and 9 ? when he replayed what is essentially a nine-hole course. He credited solid chipping and just one of those days that golfers wish they could bottle up and save. The same feeling wasn?t shared by league front-runner Isaac Petersile of Coronado, but the freshman did what he needed to do to maintain his large lead by shooting 80 and finishing in a three-way tie for sixth place. Also in that tie was Mesa Ridge?s Braden Bentley, who missed a chance to cut into Petersilie?s seven-stroke lead after three events. Only one tournament remains in the 4A Metro, and it?s the event Coronado is hosting. ?That should be a good confidence booster,? Petersilie said. ?I should be able to just go out and relax.? Petersilie said he didn?t even know until last week that a league champion would be crowned, so it?s not exactly a top goal. It?s easy to understand the confusion, as the league itself has yet to decide on a format. Last year, when the now eight-team 4A Metro was twice as large and sharing events with the six-team 5A Metro, five league meets were played and the individual leaders were determined by golfers? top four scores in those five meets. With only four events this year, 4A Metro coaches haven?t decided if the league will be determined by all four events, or by the top three. Either way, Petersilie?s lead figures to be safe; as does Coronado?s in the team standings. The Cougars won the title Thursday by two shots over Liberty and beat the 4A Metro runner-up ? Widefield ? by eight shots to increase its lead to 55 shots over the Gladiators. All four Coronado golfers placed in the top 10. Liberty?s Tyler Nolan took second individually at 75, followed by Rampart?s Ben Tarasiewicz at 76. 4A METRO LEADERS (Through three of four events) INDIVIDUAL Isaac Petersilie, Coronado 70-77-80?227 Braden Bentley, Mesa Ridge 70-77-80?234 Kyle Kleckner, Coronado 78-85-79?242 Nate Starke, Widefield 87-84-73?244 Wes Moran, Coronado 78-88-82?248 TEAM Coronado 706 Widefield 761 Woodland Park 836 Mesa Ridge 839... Ravens poised to take next step in crowded AFC

Two years, two close calls, and two long offseasons pondering "what if" for the Baltimore Ravens.

What if Billy Cundiff hadn't missed that chip-shot field goal against the Patriots in the AFC championship game eight months ago, the one that would have sent it to overtime? What if Baltimore's usually reliable defense held onto that seemingly comfortable 14-point halftime lead over the hated Pittsburgh Steelers in the divisional round the year before that?

In a league that rarely offers second chances ? let alone third ones ? the Ravens find themselves still searching for that Lombardi Trophy to bookend the one linebacker Ray Lewis led them to a dozen seasons ago.

Time is running out.

Lewis is 37 and noticeably slimmer but he's already logged 222 games at one of football's most demanding positions. Safety Ed Reed turns 34 next month and skipped minicamp while hinting at retirement. Quarterback Joe Flacco is entering his fifth year as a starter and running back Ray Rice is signed to a long-term deal and in his prime.

Anything less than ending the season in New Orleans will be a disappointment.

Coach John Harbaugh has preached "finish" during training camp, the one thing the Ravens haven't done on the cusp of the game's biggest stage. This may be their best ? and perhaps last ? shot at breaking through in a competitive conference in the midst of a transition.

The Steelers begin the season with eyes on a seventh championship, but are also dealing with the kind of roster turnover they've largely avoided during their latest revival.

The Patriots might be the only team in the league nursing a bigger postseason hangover than the Ravens after the New York Giants stunned them ? again ? in the Super Bowl.

Tom Brady's longtime rival Peyton Manning left Indianapolis for Denver, where the Broncos believe the four-time MVP's surgically repaired neck is strong enough to get them back to the Super Bowl for the first time since John Elway was doing his thing.

Houston finally broke the Colts' stranglehold on the AFC South when Manning sat out last season, and the Texans appear to easily be the class of that division as long as quarterback Matt Schaub, running back Arian Foster and wide receiver Andre Johnson stay healthy. The Texans won their first playoff game behind rookie T.J. Yates before falling to Baltimore in the divisional round.

"The key is that you stay focused on your goals and you stay focused on the work," coach Gary Kubiak said, "because you never know how something is going to happen."

AFC EAST

Perhaps no player took New England's late collapse against the Giants harder than Brady. Coming off another typically brilliant regular season, Brady was the last Patriots player in uniform in a dejected locker room after a fourth Super Bowl ring vanished. At 35, the window is starting to close on his Hall of Fame career. The offense remains dangerous as long as he's around, though the real issue will be if New England's defense can improve after finishing 31st in yards allowed and crumbling in the final moments against Eli Manning.

The New York Jets were among the NFL's most disappointing teams last fall, sliding to 8-8 as quarterback Mark Sanchez threw a season-killing 18 interceptions and opponents stopped fearing "Revis Island." New York traded for Tim Tebow in the offseason hoping the charismatic if erratic quarterback can make an impact both on the field and in the locker room. Sanchez remains the starter and appears to have kept his sense of humor. He joked the team was saving all its touchdowns for the regular season after the Jets went three straight exhibition games without reaching the end zone. The joke will be on Sanchez and coach Rex Ryan if New York takes another step back.

The Buffalo Bills got off to a hot start a year ago behind quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick. Then the team signed the QB to a contract extension and immediately started to get buyer's remorse. Buffalo went 2-8 after Fitzpatrick signed the six-year, $59 million deal. He'll need to start earning that paycheck this season, and the Bills have opened their wallets for their defense, signing end Mario Williams to give a toothless defense some bite.

The Miami Dolphins blew things up for the second time in five years, bringing in Joe Philbin as coach and giving the starting quarterback job to rookie Ryan Tannehill. To add a little appeal to a franchise that has ceded the local spotlight to LeBron James and the Miami Heat, the Dolphins signed wide receiver Chad Johnson and let HBO film its popular "Hard Knocks" training camp series with the team. The camera crew lasted longer than Johnson, perhaps a sign the Dolphins realize their problems are not a quick fix.

___

AFC NORTH

Lewis slimmed down during the spring hoping to keep his body fresh. Consider the weight Lewis shed now firmly on Flacco's shoulders. The 27-year-old who once proclaimed himself the best quarterback in football will need to play like it at times for Baltimore to excel. The aging defense will miss the presence of linebacker Terrell Suggs, out indefinitely after tearing his right Achilles tendon while playing pickup basketball.

Pittsburgh remains among the most stable franchises in the NFL, but even they aren't immune to change. In addition to the retirement of wide receiver Hines Ward and the release of linebacker James Farrior ? who have a combined four Super Bowl rings ? Pittsburgh let go offensive coordinator Bruce Arians and brought in former Kansas City coach Todd Haley. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger likened the transition to Haley's offense to learning a new language. He'll need to get fluent in a hurry behind an injury marred offensive line.

Cincinnati coach Marvin Lewis has made a habit out of turning seemingly untenable situations into playoff berths, doing it a year ago with rookie quarterback Andy Dalton and receiver A.J. Green. Yet consistency has never been the team's trademark. The Bengals have made the postseason in consecutive years only once in franchise history.

The Browns borrowed a page from rival Cincinnati's book by going with 28-year-old rookie quarterback Brandon Weeden and third overall pick Trent Richardson at running back. The Bengals rode that kind of combination to the playoffs. The Browns would love to ride it to somewhere in the vicinity of .500. Yet Richardson spent part of the preseason dealing with a knee issue that could linger into September, and there are plenty of questions about who Weeden will throw to.

___

AFC SOUTH

The Texans could finally exhale after more than a decade of building ? and rebuilding ? landed them in the playoffs. They've got so much depth atop such a lackluster division they could stay there a while. Foster is among the league's best running backs and Schaub was in the midst of a career year before being brought down by injury.

Tennessee nearly tracked down the Texans in the final month of the season despite a lackluster performance from running back Chris Johnson as "CJ2K" became "CJBarely1K." The Titans hope to remain tight on Houston's heels behind second-year quarterback Jake Locker, whose mobility gives Tennessee's offense an added dynamic that could take pressure off Johnson.

The Indianapolis Colts felt so certain about Andrew Luck they hit the reset button on the entire franchise. Manning is gone. So is the coaching staff that took the team to the Super Bowl in 2010. The precocious Luck has looked like a wise investment during the preseason, showing the poise of a player far beyond his 22 years. Having the likes of Reggie Wayne around helps.

Jacksonville owner Shahid Khan is a master marketer who wants to pump some life into the beleaguered Jaguars and is so eager to do it he committed to playing four "home" games in London, one a year starting in 2013. At some point he hopes his team's play on the field ? and not it's travel schedule ? is headline worthy. It just won't be this season.

__

AFC WEST

Norv Turner continues to survive in San Diego despite seemingly diminishing returns. The Chargers woefully underachieved a year ago, as a series of injuries and a midseason slump allowed them to get Tebowed out of the postseason. Philip Rivers tried to largely do it himself, with woeful results. He tossed a career-high 20 interceptions; a healthy TE Antonio Gates should provide a return to normalcy. San Diego addressed its needs on defense by signing linebacker Jarret Johnson and using its first three draft picks on defensive players.

Kansas City made a stunning fall from a 2010 playoff run due to a series of injuries that gutted the roster. Running back Jamaal Charles, quarterback Matt Cassel, safety Eric Berry and tight end Tony Moeaki are all healthy. Having Romeo Crennel ? as placid as former coach Haley was fiery ? should keep the Chiefs on an even keel; so should a user-friendly schedule in the second half of the season.

The sight of Manning wearing orange and blue is going to take some getting used to. Manning felt confident enough in Denver's ability to compete for a title he spurned offers from other teams ? Arizona most notably. Going from Tebow to Manning is one of the most dramatic QB changes in recent memory. The Broncos will need to adapt quickly to be a threat in a tightly packed division.

The Oakland Raiders are so confident in Darren McFadden's health they didn't stop reliable backup Michael Bush from fleeing to Chicago. New coach Dennis Allen is trying to restore a sense of discipline to a franchise that largely ignores the trait. Quarterback Carson Palmer went 4-5 as the starter, but didn't have McFadden in his backfield. Allen's defense could help a defense that struggled in 2011. Still, Palmer will have to throw the ball eventually, and the Raiders haven't had a true No. 1 receiver since Randy Moss.

Chartered Institute of Taxation Ghana Annual Conference opens ...

The 2012 Chartered Institute of Taxation, Ghana (CITG) Annual Conference to create awareness on tax policies and compliance, opened in Accra on Wednesday with a call on policy makers to make tax laws attractive for effective compliance.

Professor Riel C.D. Franzsen, Director of the African Tax Institute, Department of Economics, University of Pretoria, South Africa, who made the call, said although no one liked taxes they were important tool for national development.

He said taxes were necessary both to finance desired public spending in a non-inflationary way and also to ensure that the burden of paying for such spending was fairly distributed.

??While necessary, taxes impose real costs on society and good tax policy sought to minimize those costs,? he added.

The three-day conference forms part of the CITG?s awareness drive in the field of taxation and also as a platform for interactions between tax administrators, taxpayers, the Institute, tax practitioners, students and the public.

Over 300 delegates from Ghana, Nigeria, Benin, Togo, Mali, Liberia, Sierra Leone, La Cote d? Ivoire, Burkina Faso and Niger are attending the conference under the theme: ?Taxation and National Development: Challenges and Perspectives.?

Prof Franzsen said tax policies must translate into good laws which could be administrated in practice, adding that complexity of laws and regulations increased compliance cost and led to evasion.

That, he said, could be achieved through creating the appropriate environments such as political, policy, legal, institutional and administrative environment.

He said institutional structures needed to be strengthened to collate good data, proper processes, and efficient collection of due taxes and provision of taxpayer support services.

?We must also put in place appropriate penalty structures to reduce evasion as well as appropriate relief and enforcement mechanism and support to ensure compliance,? he said.

On taxpayers, the Professor said taxpayers? morality, compliance behaviour, perceptions or voluntary compliance would depend on efficiency and efficacy of government services ? whether revenue was spent appropriately in accountable manner among the citizenry and levels of trust in the administration of the policy.

Prof. Franzsen mentioned complexity of tax system, taxpayer?s trust/confidence, and perceptions on the fairness of the system, social setting and norms, effective administration and enforcement as factors impacting on compliance.

Mr Lee Ocran, Minister for Education, in a speech read for him, said the conference was a suitable platform where tax experts met to discuss issues and stressed the need to encourage such meetings to improve tax compliance in the sub region.

He urged CITG to institute schemes that would accelerate growth while increasing tax revenue.

The Minister announced that the Chartered Institute of Taxation Bill would soon be laid in Parliament and expressed the hope that when passed it would help improve compliance level in the country.

Mr Felix Ahima-Adonteng, President of CITG, said the fora would enable delegates to discuss, share ideas, learn new ways and add improved and innovative dimensions to doing old things, a process that should benefit the taxpayer, the tax collector and the tax adviser.

He, therefore, urged the public to cultivate the habit of paying their taxes to empower government to improve lives of the citizenry. GNA

Using Fertilizer Wisely Could Help Feed 9 Billion People

News | Energy & Sustainability

Farmers in the U.S. and China should use less fertilizer, freeing it up for application where such nutrients can do the most good

Can the world's existing farmlands provide enough crops to satisfy the hunger of the nine billion people?up from seven billion currently?that demographers predict will be living on the planet by the mid-21st century? Or will more and more forests and other ecosystems have to be cleared to feed all the extra mouths? A new study, published in Nature on August 30, suggests that increasing deforestation could be avoided provided farmers made better use of water and nutrients on land currently under cultivation around the globe. (Scientific American is part of Nature Publishing Group.)

The central premise of the new analysis is that intensifying agriculture where it already exists is the key to preserving a balance between farming and forests. To do that, the researchers from McGill University in Montreal and the University of Minnesota (U.M.) analyzed the so-called yield gap. That's the difference between what the highest yielding farm or area within a given region can produce?for example, corn?compared with what the average yield is. The difference between this best-practice farm and the average farm is the yield gap.

The researchers then employed national and regional agricultural data from outfits such as the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and the International Fertilizer Industry Association to determine the root causes of these yield gaps. Simply by improving fertilizer application and irrigation, the researchers find that global yields of corn, wheat and rice?the three main staple crops?could be increased by 64 percent, 71 percent and 47 percent, respectively.

"We are not claiming to diagnose the exact management practices needed on any particular plot of land," explains research fellow Nathan Mueller, who led the study from the U.M.'s Institute on the Environment, because local factors such as soils and weather can play an important role. Instead, the goal is to identify what practices might help close yield gaps at the regional or even global level and highlight those areas most in need of intervention.

That list includes the U.S. Great Plains and China, where more fertilizer is used than is strictly necessary. For example, American farmers apply so much fertilizer on Midwestern corn fields that much of it ends up running off, ending up in the Mississippi River and, ultimately, reaching the Gulf of Mexico. There the copious fertilizer fuels a bloom of algae and other microscopic plants that then die. Microbes that consume the dead plants also use all the oxygen available in surrounding waters, creating a vast "dead zone" that is devoid of sea life?an unfortunate side effect of the demand for more maize.

Lessening fertilizer use in the U.S. and China would free up nutrients to be applied to fields in eastern Europe and western Africa with no detriment to American or Chinese people. As it stands, the researchers estimate that some 11 million metric tons of nitrogen fertilizer and five million metric tons of phosphate could be saved annually at present without diminishing current yields. Those savings then could be applied to underachieving areas.

Former Decorated Marines Surpass $20 Million in Funding for Lima One Capital, LLC

Lima One Capital LLC, an Atlanta hard money lender recently surpassed $20 Million in funding. Lima One Capital?s mission seeks to revolutionize and stabilize the residential real estate industry by providing first-mortgage loans to real estate investors seeking to purchase and renovate distressed homes. The company offers clients highly competitive rates, transparent terms, unmatched operational efficiency, great customer service, and fast closings. Lima One Capital currently lends in Georgia and South Carolina, with Atlanta representing its largest market. The company plans to expand to North Carolina next month, and eventually, throughout the country.

Atlanta, GA (PRWEB) August 29, 2012

Six years ago, John Warren and John Thompson were commanding Marines in a hard fought counter-insurgency in the ?world?s most dangerous city? of Ramadi, Iraq.

Today, however, the leaders of Lima One Capital, LLC, are shepherding $20 Million in funding for their fast-growing, residential hard money lending company with a new mission: revolutionize and stabilize the residential real estate industry by providing first-mortgage loans to real estate investors seeking to purchase and renovate distressed homes.

Instead of M-16 rifles, their new weapons of choice derive from the company?s highly competitive rates, transparent terms, unmatched operational efficiency, great customer service, and fast closings.

?We love the real estate investing industry because we recognize the social and economic impact that our clients have on communities and the economy as a whole,? says CEO John Warren.

Lima One Capital currently lends in South Carolina and Georgia, with Atlanta representing its largest market. The company will add North Carolina to the lending lineup next month as part of its domestic expansion.

?Our professionalism, integrity and customer service, gives clients a real alternative to traditional hard money lenders who are poorly capitalized and ridden with high rates and junk fees,? explains Warren. ?We quickly became the premier Atlanta hard money lender for real estate investors purchasing properties in Atlanta and we plan to bring that same model to each new market we serve,? Warren adds.

Clients of Lima One Capital span the globe. ?We serve ?hands-on? real estate investors in Atlanta, passive investors throughout the U.S. and seven foreign countries,? states COO, John Thompson. ?We do more than average Atlanta hard money lenders who just provide clients with capital. We ensure deals will be successful with our underwriting and construction draw processes. Additionally, we can introduce clients to our extensive network of real estate professionals who will assist them with property acquisition, construction and sales. We are a one stop shop for investors.?

It?s a convenience Lima One Capital client Dr. Larry Pohl appreciates. Pohl, who practices internal medicine in San Diego, invests in residential real estate in his free time. ?Not only was Lima One Capital professional and friendly, but we were able to secure a fair financial package and close within five days? Pohl said. ?I would recommend this company very highly without reservations for anyone needing loans for rehabilitating projects,? he added.

Lima One Capital clients? represent the ever-growing segment of investors within residential real estate. Recent market studies show that 27% of all homes purchased in the U.S. are by investors planning either to rent the property or ?flip? the property to an owner-occupier or another investor. Because most of these investment properties require significant construction, banks hesitate to lend on such collateral, leaving a void for investors seeking to leverage their capital.

Karina Miles is proof why this leverage is so vital to investors. Miles made a down payment of $23,780 on an investment property and elected for Lima One Capital to provide the remaining $98,924 to complete the project. In just over three months, Miles? contractor finished the project and the property sold for $191,000. Miles walked away from the deal with a profit of $53,512 and a return on her investment of 191%. Meanwhile, she was able to purchase two additional investment properties using Lima One Capital loans. Without Lima One Capital, Miles would not have chosen to fund three projects simultaneously. ?It has been a pleasure working with them and every step of the way they have been able to answer questions and lead me in the right direction with any assistance I might need,? Miles said.

Lima One?s attention to detail, dedication and service was forged in combat. Warren founded the hard money lending company in January 2010 in Atlanta, paying tribute in name to the Marines he commanded in 1st Platoon, Lima Company, 3rd Battalion, Eighth Marines. Thompson also served in Lima Company as the unit?s company gunnery sergeant. ?There was no other Marine I respected more than John Thompson. We developed a great working relationship while deployed in Ramadi, and I knew his operational skills complimented my strategic planning,? said Warren.

GOP chairman says party needs to 'prosecute' Obama

(AP) ? The chairman of the Republican Party said Monday that the GOP needs to "prosecute the president," arguing that Barack Obama's offenses are a long list of promises unfulfilled.

Using a word more common in criminal cases than politics, Reince Priebus said Obama promised lower unemployment if Congress passed his stimulus package in 2009, and to reduce both the federal deficit and the nation's debt. The unemployment rate stands at 8.3 percent.

"We need to prosecute the president on what he promised and what he delivered," Priebus said in an interview with "CBS This Morning."

Republicans close to Mitt Romney's campaign sent a message to convention delegates Monday that they need to argue that Obama's presidency has been a failure. Republicans echoed that line in news conferences and statements.

Former New Hampshire Gov. John Sununu talked of Obama's "complete absence of leadership" in getting Congress to approve a budget. He spoke at a news conference on Hispanics and Republicans at the convention.

But few other Republicans would go as far as Priebus, who said "we need to prosecute the president who seems to be in love with the sound of his own voice." Prosecute suggests criminal indictments and court proceedings. Priebus has used the word before.

"I wouldn't define it that way and I wouldn't look at it that way," Russ Schriefer, the chief convention planner, told reporters at a separate news conference. "What we would want to do is define what President Obama has done over the last four years, how and why he's failed, and how his leadership has really failed the American people ? stagnant economy, increasing debt and more importantly the disappointment the American people feel in President Obama, that he just hasn't lived up to the promises of the last four years."

Pressed on the word prosecute, Schriefer said: "You have to ask Chairman Priebus that. I don't use that word."

The Republican National Committee declined to explain Priebus' comment.

Obama campaign spokeswoman Lis Smith said in a statement that the public won't buy efforts by Romney to use the convention to tear down the president.

Pressed later in the CBS interview, Priebus said Obama and the Democrats "failed as a matter of law to comply with the legal requirements" to get a budget through Congress the past three years.

The 1974 Budget and Impoundment Control Act established budget procedures and the passage of annual budgets. Obama got a Democratic-controlled Congress to pass a budget in his first year in office, but no budget has emerged in three years, largely due to political divisions.

buster posey eric holder eric holder carole king crystal renn matilda cab calloway

Haven't seen him in almost 2 year's then BOOM - He's HOME ...

Almost 2 year's ago, my AH, packed up and left me
Got divorced while he moved 2,000 miles away
It's been a ride to say the least
He finally got sober & he's been sober now for 8 month's

Last night he knocked on my back door
I stood my ground's, umm, some might say "Biotche"
I unleashed my bottled up- thought's, feeling's, emotion's
Didn't sleep at all - Deep gut cried all night long

I believe it's all in the plan - Don't know why or how come
But I owned it

Tonight, we had dinner together
He still lives with guilt, shame and major denial.
I really feel like Im a grade or 2 ahead of him, in "recovery"
I was surprised he hasnt learned more about "himself" - I
would of thought, after 2 rehabs and nightly AA meetings, he would
of been farther than where he is at today. That surprised me!!

I felt like more like his "Alanon" counselor more than anything else
There was time's when my gut hurt, I shed alot of tear's
I told him, we could be friend's, but as far as getting
back together. It is not time, and dont know if it will ever be....

He asked me if he could move home! - That made my head spin!!

He's not made amend's to my children
And I will never put a man before my children ever again
I told him, it's up to him and God, not me
Im done fixing things - There was issues with him and my daughter
And those issues, run deep in my soul and her's

Honestly, alot of mixed feeling's, once again, hard to say good-bye
but atleast now, I have truely let go and letting God
and as of today, we parted as friends

I do love him, but I know after 2 days of living with him
I would more than likely would be sitting in the county jail

If he passes thru again, if the timing is right, we will have dinner again
He is a bit slower thinking and he did get side tracked a few times
I had to pull his train of thought, to finish the conversation a few times
Made me realize - how much I love my dogs and my peaceful little
home.

It hurt - It really hurt - It hurt to keep my hands in my pocket
and not whip out my "fixing" tools - The sad face, The lonely stare,
The wet tears - that he had on his face. Was freaking hard to look
at - Made my gut & heart hurt

One of my gf's was around, she got mad at me, and said how
can you talk to him like that, after he just has told you he was sorry??
I told her, Im done pussyfooting around. Done that for too many years.
It is what it is......She has been thru Alanon too, thought she would
of understood - How messed up this stuff can be.....?????

This time, I told him - See you later ~ Without a kiss - just a warm hug

Amends Done - Lets turn the page & move on......

I learned to follow my gut, because it's the only thing on me, that
hasnt been played with........and it worked!!!
Not easy..but forward

YOUR THOUGHTS ARE:?????

Complete The Home Improvement Project You Have Been Planning ...

Before you start painting a wall, you have to prep the surface. Prepping the wall requires washing it with soap and water, which removes built-up dirt and grease that can affect how the paint sticks to your wall. A dirty wall will cause paint to chip sooner, shortening the life of your paint job.

Painting home improvement projects require dry days. This tip is critical for having success in painting your home. On wet and humid afternoons, paint dries more slowly on the walls, which means that you will be at your project longer. Only painting on the dry days will cut your time in between coats and speed up the project overall.

If you are using a tank style hot water heater and do not have the money to replace it take a trip to your hardware store. You can buy an energy saving blanket to wrap around your tank to keep heat in and save you money on your energy or gas bill.

Any home will benefit from a regular painting schedule. Painting is one of those home improvement tasks that is not vital, but keeping up with it pays considerable dividends. A house which has been painted and repainted at frequent intervals will look more appealing to potential buyers. Homeowners that paint their houses regularly will also avoid the necessity of a major, expensive paint job when they decide to sell their homes.

When you are planning a roof replacement, make sure to consider using white tiles. Not only does this give your home an unique look, it also translates into keeping your home cooler. Roof tiles that are a lighter color attract less heat, which reduces the heat that builds up in your attic or upstairs floor. With white tiles, your house is sure to stay cooler during the hotter months of the year.

If you live in an apartment, then you may believe that there is nothing you can do to improve the value of where you live. If you are the owner of the apartment, this is not true. There are many floorplans that you can use to easily add value to your apartment.

In order to make a living running a home improvement gig, you must know the proper rates to charge. This includes being able to give your customer a detailed report of the expenses that they are incurring. These rates include materials and labor, so make sure that you don?t charge them too much or you will not get the job.

Painting is a perennial task. Water-based latex paints make for the easiest clean-up. You only need soap and water. But sometimes oil paint is best for a job. It is longer lasting. When cleaning up from oil paint, use cooking oil on your brushes to dissolve the paint. Then you can use soap and water.

If you would like to spruce up your home, the biggest impact is to paint your walls. A fresh coat of paint will give you instant results and make the home look new again. Paint doesn?t cost much, and if you don?t like the final results, it is easy to buy another paint color and try again.

If you are doing an extensive kitchen renovation, it is a good idea to set up a spot that you can utilize as a kitchen for the time being. Your kitchen might not be useable for a couple of weeks so have a microwave and a refrigerator elsewhere in the house so you can store food and make easy meals.

If you are going to pay someone to do home improvements for you, then make it a point to be available during the work and check up on progress regularly. You want to make sure that things are going as you expected and that the work is being done properly. Inform yourself and make sure all the appropriate permits and inspections are completed.

Don?t commit to a home improvement project without doing your homework first; this will ensure the project you choose is something your entirely family can enjoy. Using these tips can help you pick a project that you and your family are sure to enjoy.

Ballymac Vic dominant in the Ladbrokes Irish Greyhound Derby ...

Ballymac Vic dominant in the Ladbrokes Irish Greyhound Derby Round 4 Heat 3

The Ladbrokes Irish Greyhound Derby Round 4 Heat 3 will be contested by Killbarry Rover, Ballymac Vic, Tyrur Micko, Cuil Cougar, Dusseldorf and Airforce Diva. The 550 yards flat race will be hosted by the Shelbourne Park on Saturday, 25th August. The prize money promised to the winner is ?250.

The most accomplished and credible entry for the race is the two-year-old brindle dog, Ballymac Vic. He started racing just during this season and has not done much else than winning predominantly.

Ballymac Vic won his career debut on 16th March, 2012 over 525 yards. Racing away quickly, going wide and then running on got him the race in 28.42 seconds. He defeated Airforce Diva by 3 ? lengths.

His next try however was not that lucky. Kinloch Brae?s son lost in the next try as he ended third on 23rd March, 2012 over 525 yards.

After two training sessions at the Shelbourne Park, the Dowling trained won the Dublin Rose Of Tralee Open 525 on 21st April, 2012 at the Shelbourne Park over 525 yards. The favourite entry was fast after leashing from the third gate and timed the track distance in 28.41 seconds while leading by 5 ? lengths.

Finishing the closest to the winner was, Kingsmill Messi.

A fifth position after the success led him to get trained twice but this time the session did not prove as successful as before because he ended third and then second.

He then won the Dublin Rose Of Tralee Open 525 on 21st April, 2012 at the Shelbourne Park over 525 yards. Being fast after leaving the third gate and then leading for the rest of the way got him the race in 28.41 seconds.

Ballymac Vic struck the first hat-trick of the career on 18th August, 2012 in the 2012 Ladbrokes Irish Greyhound Derby Round 3 Heat 6 at the Shelbourne Park over 550 yards. The favourite concluded the race in 29.44 seconds and won by the margin of four lengths.

His chances of winning tonight and extending beyond hat-trick are 4 to 6. Speeding at the right time and keeping a check on the competition will serve as the key to success.

Targeted oxidation-blocker prevents secondary damage after traumatic brain injury

Targeted oxidation-blocker prevents secondary damage after traumatic brain injury

Monday, August 27, 2012

Treatment with an agent that blocks the oxidation of an important component of the mitochondrial membrane prevented the secondary damage of severe traumatic brain injury and preserved function that would otherwise have been impaired, according to a research team from the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, Graduate School of Public Health and Department of Chemistry in a report published online today in Nature Neuroscience.

Annually, an estimated 1.7 million Americans sustain a traumatic brain injury (TBI) due to traffic accidents, falls, assaults and sports participation, said the study's senior author H?lya Bay?r, M.D., associate professor, Department of Critical Care Medicine, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. She added that 52,000 of those injured die, and 85,000 are left with significant disability.

"We don't yet have a specific therapy for TBI, but can provide only supportive care to try to ease symptoms," Dr. Bay?r said. "Our study drug shows promise as a neuroprotective agent that might help address this important public health problem."

For the study, the research team conducted a global assessment of all the phospholipids in rat brain cells. This revealed that damage from TBI was nonrandom and mostly involved cardiolipin, a phospholipid that is found in the membranes that form mitochondria, the cell's powerhouse. They noted that in the healthy animal, only 10 of the 190 cardiolipin species were modified by oxygen, but after a brain injury, the number of oxidized species rose many-fold.

The researchers then developed an agent, called XJB-5-131, which can cross the blood-brain barrier and prevent the oxidation of cardiolipin. Using an established research model of severe TBI, the agent or a placebo was injected into the bloodstream of rats five minutes and again 24 hours after head injury.

In the weeks that followed, treated animals performed akin to normal on tests of balance, agility and motor coordination, learning, and object recognition, while placebo-treated animals showed significant impairment. The results indicate that blocking cardiolipin oxidation by XJB-5-131 protected the brain from cell death.

"The primary head injury might not be that serious," Dr. Bay?r noted. "But that initial injury can set into motion secondary cellular and molecular events that cause more damage to the brain and that ultimately determine the outcome for the patient."

She added that a targeted oxidation-blocker might also be beneficial in the treatment of other neurological disorders, such as Parkinson's disease, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS, and stroke.

'Cyborg' tissues: Merging engineered human tissues with bio-compatible nanoscale wires

ScienceDaily (Aug. 26, 2012) ? Harvard scientists have, for the first, time created a type of "cyborg" tissue by embedding a three-dimensional network of functional, bio-compatible nanoscale wires into engineered human tissues.

As described in a paper published August 26 in Nature Materials, a multi-institutional research team led by Charles M. Lieber, the Mark Hyman, Jr. Professor of Chemistry at Harvard and Daniel Kohane, a Harvard Medical School professor in the Department of Anesthesia at Children's Hospital Boston developed a system for creating nanoscale "scaffolds" which could be seeded with cells which later grew into tissue.

Also contributing to the work were Robert Langer, from the Koch Institute at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, and Zhigang Suo, the Allen E. and Marilyn M. Puckett Professor of Mechanics and Materials at Harvard's School of Engineering and Applied Sciences.

"The current methods we have for monitoring or interacting with living systems are limited," said Lieber. "We can use electrodes to measure activity in cells or tissue, but that damages them. With this technology, for the first time, we can work at the same scale as the unit of biological system without interrupting it. Ultimately, this is about merging tissue with electronics in a way that it becomes difficult to determine where the tissue ends and the electronics begin."

The research addresses a concern that has long been associated with work on bioengineered tissue -- how to create systems capable of sensing chemical or electrical changes in the tissue after it has been grown and implanted. The system might also represent a solution to researchers' struggles in developing methods to directly stimulate engineered tissues and measure cellular reactions.

"In the body, the autonomic nervous system keeps track of pH, chemistry, oxygen and other factors, and triggers responses as needed," Kohane explained. "We need to be able to mimic the kind of intrinsic feedback loops the body has evolved in order to maintain fine control at the cellular and tissue level."

Using the autonomic nervous system as inspiration, Bozhi Tian, a former doctoral student under Lieber and former postdoctoral fellow in the Kohane and Langer labs, and collaborator Jia Liu worked in Lieber's lab at Harvard to build mesh-like networks of nanoscale silicon wires -- about 30 -- 80 nm in diameter -- shaped like flat planes or in a reticular conformation.

The process of building the networks, Lieber said, is similar to that used to etch microchips.

Beginning with a two-dimensional substrate, researchers laid out a mesh of organic polymer around nanoscale wires, which serve as the critical nanoscale sensing elements. Nanoscale electrodes, which connect the nanowire elements, were then built within the mesh to enable nanowire transistors to measure the activity in cells without damaging them. Once complete, the substrate was dissolved, leaving researchers with a net-like sponge or a mesh that can be folded or rolled into a host of three dimensional shapes.

Once complete, the networks were porous enough to allow the team to seed them with cells and encourage those cells to grow in 3D cultures.

"Previous efforts to create bioengineered sensing networks have focused on two-dimensional layouts, where culture cells grow on top of electronic components, or on conformal layouts where probes are placed on tissue surfaces," said Tian. "It is desirable to have an accurate picture of cellular behavior within the 3D structure of a tissue, and it is also important to have nanoscale probes to avoid disruption of either cellular or tissue architecture."

Using heart and nerve cells, the team successfully engineered tissues containing embedded nanoscale networks without affecting the cells' viability or activity. Using the embedded devices, they were able to detect electrical signals generated by cells deep within the tissue, and to measure changes in those signals in response to cardio- or neuro-stimulating drugs.

Researchers were also able to construct bioengineered blood vessels, and used the embedded technology to measure pH changes -- as would be seen in response to inflammation, ischemia and other biochemical or cellular environments -- both inside and outside the vessels.

Though a number of potential applications exist for the technology, the most near-term use, Lieber said, may come from the pharmaceutical industry, where researchers could use the technology to more precisely study how newly-developed drugs act in three dimensional tissues, rather than thin layers of cultured cells. The system might also one day be used to monitor changes inside the body and react accordingly, whether through electrical stimulation or the release of a drug.
