Choosing a Guitar can be a daunting task, especially if you?re looking to buy for the first time.
Therefore the approach to buying a Guitar is to decide what type of music do you want to play? Answering that question will help you to decide whether you should buy:
an Acoustic Guitar; or
an Electric Guitar
Taking a wild guess I suspect that most of you out there want to play the Good, at we believe it?s a beautiful instrument that deserves to be widely played. It?s a good instrument to start beginners on, as no matter how loud you play an Acoustic Guitar, the?neighbors?aren?t going to ask you to MOVE!
Most guitar tutors, experts, and professionals recommend that if you want to learn and master guitar in the truest sense, then you should opt for an Acoustic Guitar anyway because it allows you to develop stronger basic techniques and then you can later gradually shift over from Acoustic to Electric when you have become proficient enough in playing.
Coming back to your choice of music, however, if you aspire to become the next David Gilmour it has got to be the for you from the beginning, and here is why ? Did you ever listen to a Pink Floyd concert where the crowd goes wild once David just plays one note of the next song? This happens because David has a signature style and tone to his Guitar playing and if you want to emulate this you need the right gear, starting with the Electric Guitar. Of course there is a lot more involved in getting the tone of David or any other famous guitarist for that matter but the Electric Guitar is certainly the cornerstone.

Most of the features such as tuning techniques, strumming, picking, and other guitar playing techniques are all the same in both the Guitars. It is just the way you press down upon the strings and the quality of the sound produced that differs in both of them.
While Electric Guitars sound loud and bright, Acoustic Guitars sound warm and heavy. Moreover, with Electric Guitars, you will need to attach a whole lot of additional accessories such as amplifier, cables, leads, etc., which is not required in the case of Acoustic Guitars because the hollow body and the sound hole are sufficient enough to capture the sound produced by the vibrating strings and amplify the sound produced. On the other hand in case of Electric Guitars you can plug in earphones directly to the amplifier, which restricts the music played by you to your own ears, which is a definite advantage for the neighbors and other members of the family!
Another big plus of the Acoustic Guitar is its mobility. You can easily take it along and play anywhere and within a few weeks of?practicing?you should be able to play simple ?bonfire? songs to entertain your friends.
Anyone who has learnt to play the Acoustic Guitar can easily manage to advance to play the Electric Guitar as it is less tiresome because you will not need to press down so hard upon the strings while playing. Therefore, the Electric Guitar will allow you to play techniques like bending or tapping, which are rarely being done with an Acoustic Guitar.

The right age for Kids to get started is between 5 to 8 years. When buying a Guitar for Kids everything explained above also applies for Kids, the only difference actually being the size of the Guitar. Buy the same Guitar you would get for yourself, just 1/2 or 3/4 scale. Do not buy toy Guitars for a few bucks, because they are just that, toys, and your Kids will not learn anything.
Some people prefer to get their Kids started on a classic Guitar with nylon strings as they are much easier on the fingers but at we don?t recommend this. Classic Guitar is serious business but you want your Kids to have fun and be able to strum some easy songs soon to keep the?motivation?up ? hence the Acoustic Guitar.
So, ultimately it is up to you to select the right model and type of Guitar for yourself that you feel comfortable with and it will help you to learn & master Guitar.
