Brenda Song and her boyfriend, Trace Cyrus, are expecting their first child together. They have kicked off what MTV News referred to as a "Disney Channel baby boom." She has received some backlash; she's long been seen as a role model because of her Disney ties. How well do you know the star? Here are seven things you likely don't know about her.
The 23-year-old actress was once embroiled in an earlier controversy after an escort agency illegally used her image to advertise adult services. At the time, Song told E! Online, "As a role model to millions of young people, I feel I have to take a stand against this company in regard to its exploitation of my image." Brenda eventually won a lawsuit against the company.
Although she rose to fame with her television roles, Brenda didn't actually start out her show business career as an actress. She started as a professional child model.
She's also a voice actress! In fact, her next movie is titled "Tinker Bell and the Pixie Hollow Games." She provides the voice of Chloe in the upcoming Disney television film.
It's not all work for the actress. She also takes time for a lot of fun and games. She's a long-time Lakers fan. According to her own words on her official website, "My dad and brothers have always been Michael Jordan fans. So I grew up watching basketball, but in 1996 when Kobe Bryant was drafted, my obsession with the Lakers began. Now they are the only team in my heart."
It's bigger than that, though. Not only is she a fan; she's also gone to the hospital for the Lakers. She once hyperventilated while watching a game and had to go to the emergency room.
Then there's romance. Brenda and Trace have been together for well over a year. The two each have independent careers. Brenda has recently been spreading her wings and can next be seen in Trace is a musician who has recorded independently and with the band Ashland HIGH. According to E! Online, the two will soon experience parenthood together.
