Golf charity Saturday to benefit military families

ANCHORAGE - This weekend a local company is teaming up with a national charity to help veteran and active military families here in Alaska.

Thirty-four teams of four golfers each will be teeing off early Saturday to raise funds for the nonprofit Soldiers and Families First.

The money is used to help military families by covering rent or other bills, which can be hard when a loved one deployed.

But it?s not just about the money.

?It doesn't matter -- I mean even if you want to call and talk to us, we?ll do that too? and that?s free. It?s just that we have a passion to make sure veterans and their families are getting taken care of,? said David Craig of Soldiers and Families First.
