Walmart is installing solar panels on its Riverside South store, officials from the retail giant announced.
The solar installation in the store at 5200 Van Buren Boulevard adds another notch to Walmart?s portfolio on sustainability projects: To date, the company has completed 216 solar installations nationwide ? 119 projects of which are in California.
Company executives say Walmart?s solar efforts in California are likely to:
Generate up to 70 million of kilowatt hours of clean energy annually, the equivalent of powering more than 5,400 homes.
Reduce carbon dioxide emissions annually, the equivalent of taking about 4,100 cars off the road.
