University of Minnesota diver Sarah McCrady, along with her partner MacKenzie Tweardy, concluded competition at the 2013 World University Games Friday morning with a fourth-place finish in the women's synchronized 10-meter event with a score of 266.16.
It was the final diving event of the Games, with the U.S. women taking home silver with a final team score of 2109.91, second only to China's 2437.97 points.
Team medals for diving are awarded based on overall performance throughout the Games. Each country's top two scores from the preliminaries in each of the individual events, as well as the final scores from each of the synchronized events, are added together to determine the team medalists.
Former Gopher Ashley Steenvoorden competed for the first time in the games Friday morning, finished second in her heat of the women's 1500m freestyle preliminaries with a time of 16:28.94. With her time, Steenvoorden advanced to Saturday's 1500m freestyle final. Gopher fans can catch the action on ESPN3 beginning at 10:00 a.m.
